We hope all our new users are enjoying Campfire this week! As always, you can report any bugs you find under the “help” tab in Campfire, and we’ll start creating fixes right away! This has been a busy week for us, we won’t always have this many updates so close together, but we’re working around the clock to make Campfire the best it can be!
First, The Gender Update is a mandatory update for Steam and Non-Steam. It is available for download now. The previous version of Campfire will not work. This update will not affect your stories, everything will be right where you left it. The Gender Update contains security improvements that require us to do the patch this way. We do not anticipate mandatory updates will become a regular occurrence. We’ve had three updates this week, but we plan on future ones being larger with more features and fixes releasing every two weeks. The next update set is the Customization Update which will release in early-mid December, depending on how long the subsequent security fixes take us to nail down. Here are the changes for the Gender Update:
Second, we created an update roadmap on our site which you can find here: https://www.campfiretechnology.com/roadmap.html We compiled all of the feature requests we have gotten so far and posted them online, so you know what we’re planning and what to look forward to! Our goal is to be as vocal as possible when it comes to updates. If you see anything missing from the future updates list, please email email@example.com The list isn’t explicit in detail, we have many smaller changes coming with those updates as well. However, we think the general features we have listed should give you a good idea of what we’re focusing on.
This isn’t a precise schedule. We are college students, and sometimes school, social lives, and family have to come first. We will do our best to adhere to the schedule we have, but we appreciate your understanding if an update comes a week early or a week later than planned. (It all kind of depends on the features being added and the time of year.) We’re going to update the site with a visual indicator (like a checkmark) so users can follow along with the progression of updates leading up to their release. As we continue work on Campfire, we will be able to figure out how long updates typically take, so we’ll be able to better give precise dates later on.
We hope you all are enjoying using Campfire. As always, we’d love to see what you create on social media if you’d like to share it with us at any of these locations:
Now go write some fantastic stories!

Hello Campfire storytellers!
We just had an update a few days ago, but we’ve got a little one ready to go again!
There was a small bug affecting the “Days in a Row” statistic on Steam. As a result, some users weren’t receiving related achievements. This update contains a bug fix for these achievements. We thank you for your patience!

We at Campfire are happy to announce our new refund policy: all customers who request a refund within 10 days of their purchase are guaranteed to receive 100% of their money back, regardless of the reason for their refund. We hope potential Campfire users will appreciate the policy as a way to test-drive Campfire Pro's features without having to worry about regretting their purchase in the future.
Requesting a refund is as easy as filling out the Refund Request Form, which asks for your name, email, Campfire license key, and your reason for needing a refund. Once you've submitted the form, we'll do a quick check to make sure you own the license key that you're attempting to get a refund for. After that, we'll send you an email saying that your refund is on the way. You can expect to receive the money within a few business days, depending on your payment method.
Keep in mind that once you've asked for a refund, your Campfire license key will be deactivated, so you'll lose out on Standard and Pro features.
Now that you know about our new policy, go take Campfire Pro for a test drive!
The newest version of Campfire (4.0.1) fixes some small bugs and rolls out two new themes: Simple Light and Simple Dark. Use these if the genre themes are getting overbearing, or if you just prefer to have the background be plain rather than an image. The new themes can be seen below:
We've also fixed some minor bugs in this release. These are not critical, though, so it's not a required update.
How to Update
If you own Campfire Pro or Standard, you will have recently received an email pointing to the new Campfire version. Download the ZIP file, extract it, and run the installer that fits your platform (DMG for Mac, EXE for Windows). If you're running Windows, uninstall the previous version of Campfire before you install the new one. On Mac, the old version will be overwritten automatically.
Writing Software “Campfire” Officially Released on October 1
Boston, MA: Northeastern University student Jason Louro & Wake Forest University student Jeremy Greer have officially released their innovative story-planning and outlining software named “Campfire”. Programmed by Louro, the software allows writers to properly organize their thoughts and outline their stories, while being flexible enough to keep their ideas completely unconstrained.
"Campfire is designed to help all writers in the prewriting phase. It comes with tools for character development, plot design, and worldbuilding, allowing novelists and screenwriters to plan out their stories before they start to write.” – Jason Louro (CEO)
Campfire is going to be released with three versions: Campfire Demo (free), Campfire Standard ($24.99), and Campfire Pro ($49.99).
“It has been an amazing journey thus far, being able to witness a concept actually be materialized and eventually released. It has been difficult at times balancing school work and other commitments at the same time as trying to start a company, but that makes it all the more rewarding for me and Jason” – Jeremy Greer (CMO)
About Campfire Technology: Though Campfire is currently the only software released by Campfire Technology, they are planning to develop a web-based version of the software soon. Additionally, they are always seeking to further improve Campfire and will be releasing updates consistently. To learn more visit: www.campfiretechnology.com.
